About Us

Currently we have over 120 members, including families, children, single people, pensioners; all shapes, sizes and colours. We have super-fit thrill seeking adrenalin junkies and those who like to take life (and paddling) at a more sedate pace.

The beauty of canoeing as a recreation is that it can be what you want it to be. There are opportunities for competition, for showing off and for relaxation. You can paddle on flat-water, white-water and on the sea. At Hexham, we have the added benefit of being able to do all this within the superb setting of the finest countryside and coastline in England.

Member Benefits

Members are able to take part in club activities and use Club equipment at member rates, we provide coaching from novice to advanced and competition levels.

The Club produces a twice yearly Newsletter to keep members in touch with Club developments.

All members, including young (under 18 years) members are encouraged to attend the Club AGM in April. At the AGM we review the successes of the past year and agree priorities for the coming year. The Club committee, which has at least two young members, meets every month.

For those who wish to become coaches or existing coaches who wish to upgrade or update coaching qualifications, there are funds availble from the BCU Northern Region and from the Club to part-fund the direct costs of going on training courses. Contact any Committee member for further information.
