BCU Top Club
The Cub's application for Top Club status is almost ready for submission.
The BCU Top Club scheme is aligned with the Sport England Clubmark scheme. It is a programme that kite marks clubs that have attained the highest standards of safety and effectiveness and demonstrate a continueing committment to encouraging young people in paddlesports.
We have very nearly attained these standards. Our file of evidence is almost complete, so if you pass a star test, gain a coaching award or take part in a competition, let us know! Tell a committee member or mailto:info@hexhamcanoeclub.org. The final task is to compile a three year development plan that will inform the Club's priorities for the use of its coaching resources, we hope that we will do this at the next Coaches' Forum next month.

Tyne Tour, 2005
Following a request from the BCU Northern Region, we have agreed to Hexham Canoe Club taking over the organisation of the Tyne Tour for 2005.
The Club has in previous years provided much of the person-power that goes into the smooth running of this prestigious event. The Committee thought that it was vital to respond quickly and positively to the request from the region, to ensure the continuity of the biggest canoeing rally in Britain.
In the past the Tour has been organised by one or two individuals, but we felt that it would be more secure if it were run by a working group on behalf of the Club Committee. There are no more meetings of the working group until after the event, when we will meet to review how it went (check the upcoming events page for more information).
Boat Storage
As anyone who has been in the boathouse recently will have noticed, it is getting very full in there. Some of our younger regular paddlers would like to store their boats in there but can't because there is not enough space. The Committee has therefore decided to ask people who have boats in the boathouse and who don't paddle regularly, to remove them to allow space for our younger members to store boats. There will continue to be a charge and the committee will approve all applications for boat storage.
